About the Surgery

The practice was originally located at 156-158 Merton High Street between 1989 and August 2002, when we moved to Abbey Parade. The new premises have allowed the practice to expand the services it provides to the local community. The practice is part of Sutton & Merton Primary Care Trust. The trust is spearheading developments in the local area to improve the medical care to residents.

SURGERY OPENING HOURS

         Monday to Thursday: 9.00am - 8.00pm.
         Friday Only:                9.00am - 6.30pm.

The surgery is closed at the weekend.

APPOINTMENTS
Appointments may be made by telephoning 08444 778893 or by calling into the surgery. Appointments with a GP can be made for 10 or 20 minute consultations, depending on your requirements. Routine appointments may be made in advance. This enables us to offer you an appointment at a time more suitable to you. Nurse appointments will vary in duration according to the appointment reason.

If you cannot keep an appointment, please inform us as soon as possible.

It is now possible to make GP appointments using the internet. Contact our practice manager pm@mertonmedical.co.uk and request your own unique access code and password.

A new feature available since July 2008, allows patients to view their medical records on-line. A password is required from our practice manager. You can change the password once you have access to the Medical Record Viewer.

EMERGENCY SITUATIONS
We have replaced our Emergency Clinic with a doctor call-back service. When patients call wanting an urgent appointment, our reception staff will take their phone number and a GP will call the patient back to discuss your problem.
Should the GP consider it important to see you immediately, they will invite you to attend the surgery that morning.

EMERGENCIES OUTSIDE NORMAL HOURS
If you need health information or advice at any time of the day or night, please call NHS Direct on 0845 4647. NHS Direct operates a 24-hour nurse advice and health information service, providing confidential information on:

  • What to do if you or your family are feeling ill. Particular health conditions.
  • Local healthcare services, such as doctors, dentists or late night opening pharmacies.
  • Self help and support organisations.

For emergencies only, call our patient number 08444 778893 and wait to be connected directly to an operator who will take your details and convey them to the duty doctor.
